Project description
In 2010, the Moroccan Government has created a public Super-ESCO, the “Société d’Investissements Energétiques” (SIE Moroccan) aimed at realizing and financing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in Morocco to support the national energy strategy. The SIE Moroccan engaged into a specific reflection on the most appropriate business and financing models to apply to Moroccan public buildings retrofit.
Role and Achievements
After a preliminary study, conducted by Energinvest under the Fedesco KnowledgeCenter, on the strategic relevance of the creation of a local public ESCO in order to realize and finance Moroccan public buildings retrofit, the SIE Moroccan adopted the principle of establishing a facilitating service. A second mission is in progress under the support of the ERDB (European Reconstruction and Development Bank) where Energinvest is supposed to assist the SIE Moroccan to implement its facilitating operational business model.
Services rendered
- Definition of assumptions and development of modelling scenarios for each operational approach and ESCO models.
- Development of 4 business plans based on assumptions and scenarios.
- Strategic recommendations taking into account the economic and financial objectives of the SIE.
